The long awaited and never-before-seen three day event which marks the end of Maradiva’s tenth year anniversary projects kicked off this Wednesday 27th November with the welcoming cocktail and dinner by the beach.

Earlier this day, our parking lot was transformed to accommodate exceptional classic cars which have been flown to Mauritius. The Alpine Berlinette, Porsche 911 Targa, Alfa Spider, Austin Healey, Riley Sprite 1936 and Ferrari 328 among others were complemented by a series of atypical cars from local participants;1974 BMW 3.0 CSL, 1962 Mercedes 220SE Wings Tail, MGTC, Jaguar Xtpe and Citroën Traction; a perfect replica of the Citroën at the Conservatory Citroën Heritage in France.

From North to South, covering more than 250 kilometres, the Mauritius Classic Tour included halts at the historical and cultural places of Pamplemouses Botanical Garden, Château de Labourdonnais, the picturesque red-roofed Catholic Church of Cap Malheureux; a moment for the vintage cars aficionados to marvel over the enchanting landscapes and landmarks of Mauritius. For a glimpse of the culture and traditions of our country, the car owners and custodians eagerly participated in the blessing ceremony at the sacred lake of Grand Bassin. Stéphane de Groodt and Raphaël Personnaz, French comedian and actor joined the tour and drove the Alpine A110 through the spectacular scenery of Mauritius, while the Mauritian public had a closer look at these unconventional cars during the picnic at Tamarina Golf.
